I am writing to apply for Monash Equity Scholarships as my academic achievements are not the only factors which make me a qualified scholar. I am actively involved in guiding the competitive cheerleading team to achieve victory such that we improved our national ranking to the top within a year. Regardless of the obstacles and constant discouragements throughout the journey, I stay motivated to encourage my fellow teammates towards our goal. Furthermore, I was the head of publicity in organizing a fundraising carnival for the National Kidney Foundation. I emphasized on interpersonal skills and effective workload management to develop a good team chemistry. Consequently, the carnival turned out to be a phenomenal success and won Leo Event of the Year award. Nonetheless, I am certain that everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses. The fear of public speaking had been my greatest struggle thus far as I felt anxious to speak in front of a large audience. In fact, my determination and perseverance to overcome my weakness is why I conquered my fear today. I have been seeking guidance from a mentor who would advise me in my presentation skills and constantly work on my gestures in front of a mirror.
