Growing up I’ve always showed an interest in automotive performance. It started simple with Hot Wheels, then grew intro remotely controlled cars, and ultimately growing into full sized vehicles. As a child I distinctly remember wanting a “monster truck” which at that time in my life any vehicle with a lift kit would fall into that classification. My tastes for types of vehicles slowly progressed overtime, changing into fast cars and lifted diesel trucks. In my early teen years, the pinnacle of success was having a lifted diesel truck pulling one of the fastest race cars in the nation to races every weekend. My junior year is probably the most memorable due to the fact that I found myself on a Gordon team that had just graduated many star player seniors. The team was predicted to maybe go 5-5, and not make the playoffs. The whole team including myself took this as a challenge to achieve greatness. Our first game we were predicted to lose by 44 points, and I was starting my first game as running back. I had the best football game of my career up to that point rushing for over 170 yards, 4 touchdowns, and to top it off a passing touchdown as well. We went on to win the game by 20. Our success didn’t some there we went on to win 9 straight games before suffering the first loss in the district title game. We ended up finding ourselves in a rematch with the only team that had beat us that year in the quarterfinals, but sadly suffered a devastating loss to end the season with a record of 11-2. I ended up with 2500 all-purpose yards along with 44 touchdowns on the season. I received All-State honors at the running back position, and All-Region honors on the defensive line. My senior also did not disappoint coming as a Dave Campbell’s honorable mention cover boy, to just say I had a target on my back would be an understatement.
