When Alexandre Dumas wrote his beloved novel, The Count of Monte Cristo, it is almost impossible to imagine that this is not exactly what Dumas was thinking to describe his intriguing protagonist. The Count of Monte Cristo is a curiously fascinating story about a man named Edmond Dantés turning from innocent and happy to vindictive and malevolent. When Dantés was just a humble sailor, his so called “friends” betrayed him and put him in jail when he was completely innocent, which darkens his soul and makes him hungry for vengeance. Although he might have seemed to be a man without a heart, he obviously did have one because all the things he did, he did for the people he loved. This leads us to the theme that you cannot experience true happiness
