Montresor's Murder Plan Murder is a very difficult thing to plan. In Edgar Allan Poe's "Cask of Amontillado" Montresor tries and succeeds to murder his friend Fortunato. With unrivaled cunning and uncanny intelligence he tricked his friend into his death. Montresor's cunning, intelligence, and well planing makes ending Fortunatos life a breeze. Montresor is a very smart man and that makes his planing impeccable. For example, he planed and understood how his servants where to disrespect his orders. He devised a plan to get them out of the house. ". . . Had given them explicit orders not to stir from the house. These orders where sufficient, I well knew, to insure there immediate disappearance."
