In August of 2016 Moosehead Breweries makers of Moosehead beer won a trademark infringement suit against Adirondack Pub and Brewery makers of Moose Wizz root beer. They sell their products in a similar area, both using the word “beer” and “moose” and also have similar bottles and moose head images on those bottles. Moosehead claimed that both companies are so similar that there is bound to be confusion. Moosehead alleged that, because of all the similarities, consumers might think Moose Wizz is a product sold by Moosehead Breweries, which would damage the reputation of its trademark. This led to Moosehead being awarded $8,800 in the U.S. District Court in Syracuse. There was also an injunction issued to make Adirondack Pub and Brewery stop
