Isaiah 58 provides a great description of how personal glorification or well-being is viewed by the Lord. He calls us not to personal gratification but that will be the outcome of pouring out our lives on his behalf. He has called us to loose the chains of injustice, to set the oppressed free, share our food with the hungry, provide shelter for the poor, to clothe the naked. If we do these things then our light will break forth like the dawn, healing will appear, our righteousness will go before us, and his glory will be our rear guard. (NIV Bible, Isaiah 58 5-9) Personal gratification seems to be the easier path, which is why many chose to follow it, however what they will come to learn is that the “self” is never satisfied and never content, whereas Christ offers this promise to those that follow him: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” (NIV Bible, Matt:
