The newspaper article I chose is called “Morgue considers cremation” by Tina Sfondeles. I chose this article because I believe it represents the bad counterpart of consistency which is inconsistency. It fulfills this category because the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office is trying to start to cremate bodies stored at the county morgue. They, for the first time in Cook County history, are trying to pass an ordinance to cremate unclaimed or “disclaimed” bodies. I don’t believe they are being very consistent with their beliefs. They have never done this in the history of Cook County and now they are going against those beliefs because it’s getting too hard to store the bodies. They believed that bodies should not be cremated unless the family or kin wanted it done. Now they don’t really get a choice on the matter if the body is considered unclaimed or disclaimed. I don’t believe that they had a very strong belief at the morgue because they are willing to change it so easily. They can’t even give valid reasons except that it is getting too hard to store the bodies. They have been doing this for a long time and how come all of a sudden it’s a problem now when it hasn’t been for years. It also seems very disrespectful towards religions that don’t believe in cremations. Morgues claim to be respectful towards all religions and beliefs and they are not doing so by considering to pass this ordinance. Their beliefs are not strong and are flawed in many ways.
