Mount Rushmore Gets a Facelift
The people I would put on Mount Rushmore are Martin Luther King Jr.,
Muhammad Ali, Rosa Parks, and Malcolm X. I choose these people because they all played a significant role in the Civil Rights Movement. As well as taking a part in the civil rights movement are great role models examples for young people everywhere. Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the most influential people in the United States history. In 1964 King influenced a large march through St. Augustine, Florida which opened the nation’s eyes to the brutality that african americans in our nation were facing. The year before he made a bold move to lead a march in Washington D.C where he delivered his famous “I have a dream speech”. In 1964, after the violent march through St. Augustine he was awarded the 1964 Nobel Peace Prize. Throughout all these events he always exhibited the trait of leadership. Nicknamed ‘The Greatest’, Muhammad Ali is one of the legends in the sport of professional boxing. He is a recipient of the Presidential Citizens Medal and Presidential
Medal of Freedom, which he received in in 2005 by then President George W. Bush.
Not only did Ali make great achievements in the ring but he also advanced african american roles in society, and in 1970 won the Martin Luther King Jr. Award.

Muhammad Ali like King is a great role model who seemed to always follow his own way, no one elses. Rosa Parks was a very courageous person. In 1943 she sparked the
Montgomery Bus Boycott which was a huge step in the civil rights movement. Another thing that
