Majority of the people cannot learn with distractions all around them. Older schools are degrading at a rapid rate because of their lack of upkeep. Mount Vernon High School is one of them. The underwhelming maintenance of the school is causing students to not want to learn and is one of the main factors for their student’s plummeting grades, attendance, and motivation. A great solution to combat this issue is to renovate the whole school. Renovating the school would bring back the life it once had, students would be proud to attend the school, and it would bring in more people into the community. Renovating the high school would solve all its problems, not just smaller ones such as those. By renovating the school, it would not only improve it, but also improve students overall performance and help grow Mount Vernon. More and more people will come from all over Mount Vernon because the high school will be a better school for their children to learn in. As someone who has attended Mount Vernon High School for 4 years it is disheartening to see the school in such a state, and as someone who has lived in Mount Vernon all their life its hard seeing Mount Vernon not get the recognition it deserves. Mount Vernon could be such a wonderful tourist attraction if the aging school wouldn’t drag it. By renovating the Mount Vernon High School, it would open so many doors that were once closed. Students would engage more and would want to learn more instead of being embarrassed attending the school and dreading going to the school. They wouldn’t have to look back at their high school days just thinking about how bad their experience was, they could look back and enjoy their old high school
