“Glory” Final Essay The movie “Glory” was released in 1989 and was based on the actions of the 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment. The movie takes place during the American Civil War, where Americans fought for freedom or their way of life. This Civil War put brother against brother and sister against sister having major battles kills thousands from some main issues. It involved slavery, belief issues, ecological problems and economic gain. The south’s main income was from slaves who worked in the fields. We will talk about four of the many of the main battles in the Civil War, six key characters in the movie “Glory” and three that impacted me the most.

It had brought a deadly hail of canisters to a bloody standstill on top of a ridge of sand just beyond Wagner's moat. While many Federal regiments were able to reach the fort, others weren’t coming. With a lack of reinforcements, Major Lewis Butler called for a retreat. By 10:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. The fight for Fort Wagner was over, and the Confederates held the fort. Federal forces suffered heavy losses and could not take over the fort from a direct assault. They instead had a sea siege of the fort and after 60 days the confederates abandoned Fort Wagner.
