A voice, even though we all have one, not all of us can use it. Speak is a novel about a freshman girl who needs help finding her own voice. Melinda’s art teacher, Mr. Freeman, helped her greatly by informing her that her art expressed pain, teaching her that nothing is perfect, as well as just listening to what she has to say. In this fashion Mr. Freeman helped Melinda find her voice the largest amount out of anyone in the book.
