In the recent article, “How the Case against the MMR Vaccine Was fixed,” journalist Brian Deer discusses the wrongdoings and dishonorable decisions made by Dr. Andrew Wakefield. Certain allegations made by Dr. Wakefield lead to a decade long health crisis in the United Kingdom which prompted a great wave of fear, guilt confusion, spawning every kind of worry over vaccinations in other countries. This worldwide dispute over the safety of vaccinations began after Wakefield’s scientific research paper was published in the Lancet, a medical journal. In this paper some of the parents interviewed blamed MMR for what was then described as a combination of both an inflammatory bowel disease and what Wakefield called "regressive autism", in which most language and prudence basic skills were said to have been missing. Wakefield. As years went on Wakefield along with other researchers have been unable to neither reproduce nor match his results in the mist of criticism. Throughout the many articles published, Deer gives his testimony and facts against the falsified information presented by Dr. Wakefield. As Deer presents his information he states that Wakefield “carves” the data before him. With not too many facts backing up Dr. Wakefield’s findings, this may seem to be true. Out of the 12 cases presented in his paper, five showed elapsed growth before being gave the MMR vaccine and three never had autism. Wakefield has not taken blame for this paper yet saying that claims of connections between autism and the MMR vaccine "came from the parents, not me," and that his paper had "nothing to do with the litigation”.
