It is critical that the teaching strategies and methods use doing large group lessons are effective for the students. Engaging them and interacting with them are always good strategies to make the lesson inclusive. Use of whiteboards during a large group lesson is an excellent method to include ALL students. Being able to actually follow along with the teacher’s work allows students to better comprehend the lesson and they all feel included, which is important for students. Lessons should be interactive and cover a range of learning styles. The strategies my CT use do that. The SmartBoard is visual, discussion and questions are auditory, and the whiteboard aspect aids to the kinesthetic learners.
