We all have a sanctuary, be it a church, place, or even for some; the stage. My sanctuary is unique to me, given that not everybody is not fortunate enough to have it. It is 5’7” with warm brown eyes, a beautiful smile, and the most loving soul I have encountered in my eighteen years of life. My sanctuary is my mom. Knowing that there is one person in the world who loves you with all her soul and believes in your dreams and passions. My mother is without question my rock and my strength because she has been there for me through every tear and heartache. Because of her influence, I stand here today as a phenomenal young man. Momma smoked weed into her latter years when she gave it up for the betterment of her health, but also for the sake of the family. My moms heart has been revealed to me through our conversations. My mom has been through a lot and the way that she has handled it shows the amount of strength that she has. The connection that we have can not be explained. I am my moms first born child. She has raised up a young adult that strives for success and a man that respects others and the community around him. I have been able to stay on a steady path to success by focusing on my grades and avoiding all bad influences around me. By working hard regardless of what went on around me during middle school, I maintained a high G.P.A that afforded me the opportunity to attend Cass Tech, a premier high school where students like me care about their education. My educational achievements consisted of maintaining above a 3.0 at Southfield-Lathrup and being on the honor roll as well as participating in various extracurricular activities such as National Honor Society, DECA, Play Production, and Scholars Plus. The best part is that because of her I have the tools and mindset to achieve anything that I want to do in
