1. Explain specifically what topic you will teach the client related to the client’s admitting diagnosis and the assessed client’s needs.
I will and have taught the patient about the use of anticoagulation therapy in relation to his cardiac history and prevention of a DVT. Anticoagulation therapy is said to “thin the blood” however it’s more adequately described as preventing the blood from clotting. This will decrease the patients chances of a reoccurrence of the heart attack and with his recent immobility help prevent deep vein thrombosis from the increased…show more content… I plan to verbally explain to the patient why anticoagulation therapy is appropriate for his care and his condition. I will also re-enforce this teaching with handouts and brochures also explaining the use of the medication and his condition.
2. I will present the patient with video demonstration and explanation of the proper use and administration of anticoagulation therapy and Lovenox, then discuss how this information is useful for his health.
3. I will demonstrate proper technique for administration of Lovenox injection on a model and then have the patient demonstrate on model. After successful demonstration and explanation, patient will perform proper self-administration of the Lovenox injections.
