Noticing: What did you observe during your first visit that helped you form your priority clinical judgment? Use your senses. Consider the home environment & neighborhood. During my second visit to Harding Middle School, I experienced many of same situation as I did last week. Though, in this clinical, I experienced helping a student with a nose bleed. Out of all the students we had seen that day, this was the first student with a nose bleed. As he first entered the room, his hands were covered in blood and the paper napkin was in drenched in blood as well. We had the student sit in the room and wait for his nose to stop bleeding. When I was in elementary and middle school, I witnessed many students that would get nose bleeds including myself. The best personal experience similar to this diagnosis is my own experience with nose bleeds. I would get nose bleeds several times in the school year when I was in elementary school. My nose bleeds would too occur suddenly. Many times my own nose bleeds would be due to allergens and dryness.
Ethical Knowing: What ethical principles are important to incorporate during your therapeutic relationship with your client? In the school setting, especially in the nurse’s small office, it can be difficult to keep student’s situations private. What a nurse can be able to do ethically, is to not share the students name with other students. Another ethical principle that would be important to incorporate is respect for the patient.
