Description of the patient: Patient is a 62-year-old adult male who was admitted to the Adult Geriatric unit for suicide attempt by using a glass shard to slit his wrist. History of present illness (HPI) D.F., a 62-year-old African American male, was admitted for suicidal attempts while living at the nursing home. The patient is a voluntary admission and was brought in by EMS. The patient’s current diagnosis includes schizophrenia and major depressive disorder. Mr. D. F. stated that suicide attempts are secondary to the poor care received at the nursing home for the past two years.
