First of all, it took me a bit to realize that Nacirema is American backwards, so I felt dumb noticing that as soon I got done reading the article. However, in my opinion, what Horace Miner is trying to convey to us in his satirical article is to make common American beliefs and actions seem preposterous by making the reader think of them as tribal behaviors. The author conveys that Americans are so concerned with the way they look that it has become an obsession.
If I had to describe the Nacirema to a stranger, I would say the Nacirema people are depicted as a culture obsessed group with customs that pertain to the pride of the human body as a whole. In the article Miner also describes some frequent practices that the Nacirema do in order
