First mention of Nacirema can be found in the report of Horace Miner in 1956. Professor Miner discovered these eccentric people and thoroughly described some of their strange customs. We decided to revisit Nacirema tribe in order to study the impact of heavy ritualistic system on the society. Nacirema was the perfect object for our research since we learned from Prof. Minor’s writings how strong the life of average individual was connected to varied rituals. It has been more than 50 years from the initial report, and our expedition didn’t expect to see drastic change in Nacirema society. Rather we anticipated to witness dying culture with noticeable decrease in population. Our hypothesis was that Nacirema would be collapsed by burden of such elaborate rituals. We were surprised to see Nacirema culture alive. Indeed their settlements are growing fast and attract many visitors from other tribes, even those from overseas.
