The aggressiveness aspect of the Western way of warfare is easily seen in how Napoleon expressed his art of war. Not only did Napoleon capture and harness the energy of the Revolution in the people that joined his army, he used that energy to drive his army aggressively towards victory after victory. An insight into this aspect can be seen near the end of 1805 when Napoleon shifted his strategy and moved his army through Germany and into Austria.
