Cuba 1998, I am getting on the way to meet the new world and as usual, everyone wants to meet the new member of the family. My mother literally dying because of the pain I was giving her and trying to get me out of that little bag that was my home for nine months. My father, on the other hand, figuring out if to cry or laugh was the best way of calming his nerves. Finally, I am out of there, weeks passed, and out of nowhere a neighbor pass by my new home and speculates about how she could see me in the future with only 2 years living the American dream. Well, as expected my parents had high hopes up and nothing ever happened, but it was not that bad, I was raised for 15 years in a beautiful city called Havana, and I felt like living in paradise, a warm place that gave me a lot of wonderful experiences, met people that will always be in my heart, and unforgettable places that I will always be able to go back again.
When I was 10 years old my dad had to leave me and my mom to come to the United States. That was one of the hardest sacrifices he has ever done, but he always thought it was to the best of my future. Having to take decisions since you are a kid and taking these big steps is a privilege that not everyone gets the chance to experience. I definitely have no doubt that taking the decision to come here was divinely worth it. I am here in this country because of my family and my parents, they have encouraged me to challenge myself every day and become a persistent and independent person who does not give up easily when it comes to getting what I want in life. Living here has been always one of my goals, and now that I have accomplished one of them, is the time to take the “the horse by the reins” and keep accomplishing everything I propose
