The United States should establish a National Youth Service Corps because I feel that this would be good for our generation’s youth. I think that the youth in our generation needs something like this to occupy them and provide them with some discipline while their still in their young age. Not only can this help the kids with maturity and discipline, but it can also give them many rewards such as money to help pay to continue their education. If the Citizen Corp was approved, I think that I would indeed join the program, and also even persuade others to join as well. I feel this way because like I said, I think this is a great way to get the teenagers out of the house and have them do something good for others and also themselves. According to the plan you can either join a military or civilian service for two years. Members that have joined the service corps would be paid $100 per week, receive vouchers of $10,000 for each year of civilian service and $12,000 for each year of military service. These vouchers that you have earned can be used on college funds or even a down payment on a house. This reward can be very useful to people that can't afford to continue the education they need to succeed in life. If some of the youth join this National Youth Service Corp, once they are done with their service, they can use the money they received along with the vouchers to go to college and continue life with an education. If you don't like the idea of a military service, you can help out in many other ways. Our communities need more volunteers and people to help out at places like day-care centers, senior citizens, or even things like homeless shelters.
