Bearing in mind that in Native Americans in the United States has an alarming rate of diagnoses with type two diabetes. Among the Native American population, it is considered the sixth largest reasons of death among AI/AN (Berry et al., 2009). Furthermore, Native Americans who are diagnosed with diabetes also have a higher chance of developing renal failure (CDC, 2017). They also have an increase health risk such as kidney failure, high blood pressure and cardiac disease if they are diabetic (McLaughlin, 2010). Moreover, the Native American are most likely to suffer renal failure with a diabetic diagnose (Berry et al., 2009, p.57).
The likelihood of Native American being diagnosed with diabetes is due to poor diet, socioeconomic factors, behavioral, genetics and physical activity. Due to diabetes affecting every aspect of Native American livelihood, children have become victims to this aggressive disease.
