The diverse culture of the Navajo people is shown through their religion, art, and way of building houses known as hogans. The Navajo religion believes there are two types of people: the Earth People and the Holy People. The Holy People are essentially their deities, as they placed the four sacred mountains that border Navajo ancestral lands and taught the Earth People how to live in harmony with their natural surroundings. The four sacred mountains are now known as Mount Hesperus, the San Francisco Peaks, Mount Taylor, and Blanca Peak. The Navajo religion majorly affects other aspects of Navajo culture, like art and hogan building.
