Case study 1: Aasiya
Aasiya is at a risk of experiencing many types of abuse, or is already experiencing types of abuse from her key worker Paula and other staff members in the residential home. The first type of abuse she is at risk of is neglect and act of omission. Neglect is a failure to provide and give proper care and attention, which is expected to provide to a vulnerable adult from the person or staff in charge. Omission is leaving someone out or failing to so something. The example for this in the case study is Paula forgetting to take Aasiya’s communication books in to town with her. Domestic abuse is when someone in a close relationship with you behaves in a way that causes you physical, mental, or emotional damage, as if they have control over you. An example of this in the case study is Claire and Rob, they started to create friction between them as a couple as they have the children to look after and additional demands made on them by Tim. This could lead to domestic abuse. An example of emotional neglect in the case study is Claire feeling it is up to her to look after her dad, so Tim may feel that he is a burden to the family and feel left out as if hiss emotion aren’t as important as her own family …show more content…
Signs that could indicate that Aasiya and Tim are experiencing financial abuse could be seeing unexplained loss of money, having difficulty with finances e.g. unable to pay for bills or having a lack of food. Aasiya and Tim may be unable to access their own money or check their own accounts. They may have a drop in standard of living, for example they may be unable to buy items that they could normally pay for. There may be unusual activities in both their bank accounts, and cash might be taken out to give to other people without Tim and Aasiya’s
