Today if Apartheid were to be brought up in the room how many people would actually know what we are talking about? One maybe two people. Apartied tore the black africans world apart and changed the veiwes of the nation. Leadership of nelson mandela and african national congress which is known as ANC is the leadership that the Anti Aparteid needed to bring the nation back to the unified strong nation it was capable of being. Mandela's leadership and the downfall of the apartheid is evident through his role and the ANC and also in his thirty yeaers inprisonment. This also changed the polite peaceful protests into hateful and violent protests with the help of leaders such as Nelson Mandela. Also with the sharpeville masacare this landed the government cause for the state of emergencies throughout the nation. This meant that to pass through the nation you must have a pass and most african people did not have that pass. Mandella's leadership was shown through his choice to secretly leave the nation and chose to take the fake name of david and travel to bring support for the anti aparthied movement and hpe to grow the need of equality in the nation. Unfortunatly he was caught on august 5 in charge of leaving the country illegaly and was send to prison for 5 years. Only a month later police raided a secret hideout in revonia which was used by ANC and this lead to the revonian trails, in these trails Mandela along with 9 others were sentenced to the death panelty. Even after getting a death panelty he still continued to strive for equality and freedom for his fellow people. He became the symbol of resistance as an anti aparthied movement gathered strength. He ultimately became the face of the AMC and what pushed the people against the inequality and violence that they were receiving. After 27 years and 5 months in prison he was finally released feb/11/1990. although he was given 3 chances to be released out of jail if he agreed with aparthied movements, he rejected them all and kept fighting for the anti aparthied movement while in prison. As soon as he was released he didn’t take time off and he traveled the world reaching out to others in hope to get help with anti aparthied movemnt and gain support from other countries. In 1991, the ANC held their first national conference for the first time since 1960, they were banned in 1960 and the ban was released four months before Mandella was released from the jail.
