Because of new changes in agriculture the Neolithic Revolution evolved to create a whole new civilization. The following paragraphs will explain the some of the changes in the economic, religious, and social classes. After reading you will see the drastic changes in society from the beginning of the Neolithic Revolution to today’s society.

When agriculture came into the picture, some people continued to venture into a new way of living. The domestication of plants and animals led to farming and farming led to trade. Trade first occurred in the “Fertile Crescent” or Mesopotamia, which is now modern Iraq. The first thing that was traded was salt. Salt was important because it was not present in vegetable, grain, or boiled meat and they needed the salt to keep their meat and other food fresh. Without trade, some of the most important trade units wouldn’t even exist. Trade then led to job specialization. As agricultural productivity increased, fewer people were needed work in the fields. The most common religion during that time was polytheism, or the belief or worship in move then one god. For example, Sumerians are examples of a civilization that believed in more than on god. They believed that the sun, moon and stars were gods. They also believed in a goddess that helped the reeds grow around then and a goddess of beer. Religion started changing and people started to believe in only one go, that’s called monotheism.
