Chapter three to five are very important chapters. They were chapters that mostly described the human nervous system. Learning more about the central nervous system (CNS) and the peripheral nervous system (PNS) gave me a better understanding of how some behaviors occur and what parts of the human body play a role in contributing to those certain behaviors. It is good to know that without a CNS, humans cannot survive. Also from these chapters I got a more in-depth description of how neurons work inside the human brain and all the different kind neurotransmitters that are transferred throughout the body. In school, learning about the structures of the brain and the 5 major divisions of the brain, will help in other psychology courses. Certain parts of the brain such as the hippocampus, the amygdala, the corpus callosum, the frontal lobe, the temporal lobe, the parietal lobe, the occipital lobe, etc. all play a different part in how the mind functions. It is good to know information on the different areas in the brain. If a person were ever to get injured and their …show more content…
When you learn the basics of a subject, the basis of the nervous system for example, it helps to understand how the entity works, how the entity can be defective if something is not working properly and how different people think and act the way they do. I thought learning about the neurons in the CNS was an important concept to grasp. Neurons play an important role in the human body. They are constantly helping humans process information through our senses, through our motivation, and through our emotions. There have been more that 100 neurotransmitter substances that have been recognized in the human body and they all work to send information back and forth from one neuron to the next. (Pinel 92). Knowing the types of neurotransmitters will help in other courses as well because they continue to influence
