Nicolas Steno was born in the city on Copenhagen, Denmark on January 11, 1638.
He was of a Danish accent. And he was a scientist who studied anatomy and geology. He also was very interested in tear production, the concept of fossils growing in the ground and rock formation. Nicolas was born into a Lutheran family and later converted to Catholicism in 1667. In 1675 he thought alot about becoming a priest. He was ordained into the clergy a few months later. When he died in November 25, 1686 he was venerated a priest. Steno was beatified in 1988 by Pope John Paul II. When Nicholas was about three years old he became very sick with a mysterious disease. Nicholas's father was a goldsmith who worked for the King on Denmark, named Christian IV. But he later died in 1644, so his wife remarried another goldsmith. At the age of 19 Nicolas Steno was enrolled into the University of Copenhagen where he went to be a doctor. After graduating Steno went to go travel around Europe where he found physicians and scientists that influenced him to make his own discoveries.
