By analyzing the Nighthawks painting, I can conclude its late at night at a diner or cafe. The cafe is located on a corner of a street somewhere in New York City in the late 1940’s. There is three guest at the cafe and one server. Through the window a couple sitting together, but at the same time distant from each other. The female is holding something in her hand a business card or a matchbook, just staring at it as if she’s trying to avoid conversation with the male next to her. On the other hand, the male next to her is looking straight, holding a cigar as if he is waiting for a response from the lady.
