In Nightjohn the theme prejudice stood out the most to me. It is inhumane for a person to own another person. Clel Waller, the plantation owner in the book and the film. He thinks of his slave as lesser beings because of their skin color. He doesn't want them to read or write, and treats them like dirt. He thinks and does all of this because of his prejudice against them. Just because someone is different doesn't mean they are any less human. Prejudice is still around today, you just need to know how to find it; it may not be as bad as it was in Nightjohn, but it's still there.

The equal pay protests for women today is an example of prejudice because they argue that men get paid more because they are seen as superior to women. Bravery can be used in life too. It is so easy to change yourself to fit in, but it takes bravery to stand out. Being yourself around everyone you know is sometimes the bravest thing that you will ever do. Leadership can be used if you ever become a manager at your job. You have to be a good leader at work because you want your employees to respect you and listen to you.
