In the documentary, No Mas Bebes, women of color were specifically being targeted in the tubal ligations occurring in hospitals in Los Angeles. Noting that they were women of color is important, due to the intersectionality of these women. During discussion in lecture, intersectionality was defined was have multiple identities that intertwine into one individual, whereas these multiple identities maneuver and change the experiences of the individual. If the women in No Mas Bebes were white women, they would have never faced these situations where they are lied and manipulated to sign the paperwork to consent to the tubal ligation.
