No Snitch Policy In Barn Burning

In society, there is something called the No-Snitch policy. Well before I explain that I will explain snitching. Sometimes society sees doing the right thing as snitching. So the No-Snitch policy was put in place to keep us from doing the right thing and turning criminals in. So the theme of this story, to me, is how society treats people who do the right versus those who let their friends go free.

Like in Barn Burning, it’s not easy making the right decision. Sarty knew what his father was doing was wrong, but who wants to tell on their father. Sarty’s conscience is telling him two different things. “He felt no floor under his bare feet”(Faulkner, 1928). This phrase explains how he had no clue what to do about his father’s crimes.
