At our facility, we have non-verbal activities, such as painting, music and movement, dancing, creative/process art in a toddlers daily curriculum. Non-verbal activities are another vital way for toddlers to express their feelings that at their age, sometimes cannot be put into words. A verbal activity would be circle time . In my daycare facility there is a dramatic play area, we have music and movement, and creative art daily. A situation where non-verbal activities are helpful would be if a child needed to cope with feelings and they were playing with play-doh, they may pound it very aggressively while yelling.
“Socialization of children involves reciprocal influences, whereby children and their parents simultaneously affect one another’s behaviors and together create the environment in which they all live.” (McDevitt, T.M. & Ormond, J.E. p.82)
This quote to me quite simply states that the more a parent stays involved a child’s life, starting from infancy, and taking the time to love and nurture as well as teach and discipline, the child will love and respect his/her parents the same. I can see differences in my toddlers from the parents who take the time to
