It is clearly shown throughout the play that earlier women barely had any roles outside the house the only time we see Nora actually stepping out of the house was when she was going to the market to by clothes and food.Even when she was going out the house she was instructed by torvard to not spend a lot and buy things which were not that expensive.Even when she was not at home she was being controlled by her husband.She was scared that if she bought expensive clothes Torwald would get angry this clearly shows that nora was very scared of Torval and his anger and how nora was subservient to torwald and did nothing that could make Torvald angry.But nora had no other option she had to stay with her husband as divorce during that period was not …show more content…
In the end we feel a sense of concern as Nora leaves the warmth of the family home and chooses the cold outside as a single woman and we have already seen Christine who is in desperateness of this warmth.She wants to be accepted for fulfilling the roles of the woman which the society constructs.Women appear to be reliant on the existence of a husband in their life so that they can have a respected status and feel fulfilled.As Christine does not have a man in her life she's feels unfulfilled “I only feel my life unspeakably empty.No one to live for anymore” It is seen that Christine is a rather independent woman but she is not happy with the fact that she has not met the social stereotype for her gender.She portrays how difficult it is for a woman without a man to survive.She feels that she will be regarded and valued better by society with a
