Storming the beaches of Normandy was an important turning point in World-War-II. The main goal of the invasion stared at 6:30 a.m. the British and the Canadians were to beat the light assault and then capture the beaches, there codenames were Gold, Juno, Utah, Ohmaha, Utah, and Sword. The Americans had a huge battle on Ohmaha there was around 2000 casualties. But by the end of the day over 156,000 allied troops had made there way through the Normandy beaches (History.com).
