The Norovirus is all around the world but studies have shown that it is common throughout Mexico, Chile, and South Africa. Most people have experienced the Norovirus at least once by the time they are five. The infection can usually spread through the food that we eat. Especially food that is not prepared properly. This includes food that was prepared or cooked in an unsanitary place. Because of this it is 21 million people are estimated to be contaminated by the infection every year and is also the cause of 50% of food borne illnesses.(Aron J Hall, Ben Lopman 2013) …show more content…
Most people do not even realize that they have the Norovirus. Since the symptoms are so common the virus is usually mistaken to be the stomach flu or food poisoning. In most countries the Norovirus is not a big deal, but in others it can be deadly. In countries like Mexico, South Africa and other developing countries the Norovirus can be deadly because they lack the proper equipment to help those who get sick from the virus.
