Emporia High has one very big advantage over Northern Heights, resources. It helps greatly to be in a growing city where there are libraries and other educational services available. The location doesn't help Northern Heights very much either. The student body for Emporia is fairly dense. Being out in the country Northern Heights student body is widely dispersed however, the smaller classes seem to create a more comfortable classroom environment. There is an advantage with having a high student to teacher ratio (Northern Heights having a 7:1 teacher to student ratio and Emporia high having a 16:1 teacher to student ratio). It is true that they have more classes at hand there but the counselor here at Northern Heights does her best at getting students into classes that interest them or would help them in their educational path. There is a system of transportation that transports students here from the high school to the the tech college in Emporia. There is a diverse number of classes readily available to take there that are all skilled trades. An electrical program, welding, robotics, and air pressure manufacturing systems are just a few of the many classes that you can take there at the tech
