Introduction Thesis: Man should not mess with nature or it will cause awful results, northern pike are a great example of this. They are invasive fish that have been stocked into ponds and lakes they should not be in, and they ruin the habitats, kill off the bait, and attack and wipe out other fish species. Northern pike are a fish that is invasive to most of the lakes and ponds where they are located in Maine, these fish are very destructive and aggressive in the ponds and lakes they are in. These fish destroy different fish beds, ruining the other fish that are there being born. They also kill off all of the bait they will eat anything and everything they get access to, so they kill off all of the bait fish and worms and creatures in the water, stunting fish …show more content…
This will not only cause the loss of the fish on the bed, but the eggs in it. And they are invasive so they can bring in other kinds of bad things like milfoil if the pond they were in had it and they have some on them the pike can bring it into the pond and cause that to destroy the other plants fish use as a habitat and as food. Body paragraph 2 The Pike will also attack the bait and with their bigger size than any other fish they will eat and kill off a majority of the bait causing the other fish in the pond or the lake to die off. And it affects the populations badly and can cause the stopping of bigger fish growing and slow down the fishing and ruin the eco systems that they are a part of and they are needed in. Body paragraph 3 The last biggest effect of the northern pike being in Maine fisheries is the fact that they are the biggest fish they will kill any other fish with little to no effort. This causes them to do exactly that, which can cause them to kill off most of the fish driving species close to
