(Random Access Memory)
It is a computer data storage that allows information to be stored and accessed any time and from different locations. If information wants to be stored in RAM, then there has to be power in order to store information on RAM as it is volatile. If power is lost then all data that has been stored in the RAM is gone.
This is another storage that is non-volatile, so that when the power is shut on the machine, and then the information stored is still there the next time the machine is turned on. This type of memory is used in hard drives but not in RAM as again RAM is volatile. When the computer starts up, the chip runs the BIOS in order to properly initialize the computer start up process. …show more content…
This is responsible for communications between the CPU interface, the AGP controller, and the memory.
This implements the slower capabilities of the motherboard. It is responsible for the hard drive controller, I/O controller and integrated hardware such as sound cards, videos etc. this is smaller than the Northbridge.
Power supply units convert the main electricity to low voltage regulated direct current power for the internal components of a computer. In the modern computers, they have a switched-mode power supply.
This is where most modern computers have this as to help the CPU from overheating however the heat sink can overheat
