Introduction

This written assignment will cover a scenario of a local clinic by the name of Maywood that has lost some funding from some shareholders that have pulled out of the business. Due to this pull, the clinic is having to cut back on screening tests. Diabetes is another disease that is common and can be screened for. This is usually done by a glucose screening test. Diabetes screening is recommended at the age of 45. However, those who are overweight and have a risk in their family should test earlier than this age (Johns Hopkins Medicine, 2019). Some screening tests are less effective in some situations if a person is generally in poor health or if there is no need to screen. Such as an electrocardiogram test for a health person who is not experiencing symptoms or even a CT scan routinely (Harvard Health, 2017). Benefits and risks need to be weighed out when doing screening tests to avoid unnecessary procedures. In relation to the budgeting issue at Maywood and being able to offer limited screening tests. I believe that there should be a survey completed looking at the records of the most common screening tests done. A full, complete blood count can indicate potential illnesses in the body. This would be one that I believe would be important to stick with at Maywood as the clinic can always refer the patient for further diagnostic testing if the results come back abnormal or require
