The Practice Operations is not only an interesting game, but it also is an excellent learning tool. As an operations manager of a clothing manufacturer in the game, I had to think and use operations strategies in order to achieve the goal. I played the module 6 for two times. In the first time, my net worth is about $120,000. After the first try, I had more understanding of the game. I finally completed 44 contracts and earned net worth $377,473 in the second try; the reputation score was 1866 points. Based on my game experience, there are three significant factors for playing this simulation: market research, cost management, and contract selection. First of all, the market research in the biding and contracts apartment is most important in this game in my opinion, and all of my manufacturing strategies were based on the market research. In the begin of the game, I always go to the market research screen to purchase the market report for each season, and the reports forecast upcoming trends. There are three types of products in the market report: top product, hot products, and offered products. I only focused on the top product and hot products for each season because specialization can reduce costs and has greater economic efficiency. After I determined what materials are needed, I ordered materials from Owens Textiles in advance because Owens’s materials are cheapest and have medium quality that can meet most contracts’ quality requirement. Unless I did not have enough materials for production, I would not purchase materials from other suppliers. In addition, holding cost is also a large part of total cost.
