In order to get into the mainstream consumer market, a company must be able to market their products, give the end user something they want, or at least believe they want. Apple’s ‘I’ series of hardware products crossed the chasm, mainly iPod, iPhone, iPad and iMac. Any other company launching a product could take a ‘bite’ out of Apple’s product design, marketing, functioning and overall concept to preinstall iTunes in their product portfolio.
Apple cleverly integrated their core ecommerce services, i.e. iTunes store with all their products, for example the iPod was the first digital media player which interacted with iTunes, then Apple integrated/bundled their ecommerce iTunes store software with their remaining hardware
