For the Unit 3 Written Assignment, I chose to investigate Neurotransmitter Transporters. Neurotransmitter transporters are in the class of transporter proteins which, as was noted in the course textbook, act as either channels for the material to pass through, or as carriers of the material (Biology, n.d.). Neurotransmitter transporters act as carriers of neurotransmitter material. As per (Goodsell, 2014) “The primary function of these transporters is to carry the neurotransmitter material across the cellular membranes of neurons and to specific intracellular locations. There are more than twenty types of neurotransmitter transporters.”
