Personally I do not think there is anything ethically wrong in manipulating the show to the viewers. I do not think viewers should be upset if they are watching and the show is not one hundred percent true; they are giving the viewers what they want, entertaining drama, this is what keeps the show alive and striving and that is just good business. What I think is ethically wrong is how they can keep the characters in the show by manipulating footage that provides a false image of a person. Producers use “an editing technique called ‘Franken bite’” (Crew, 2007) to create whatever image they like of the reality character. This can potentially hurt the reputation of anyone that the producers feel like they want to turn into the villain for drama, or to get a certain person kicked off the show if they are not doing the job of enhancing the drama, or appeal of the show to viewers. What concerns me about the producers of shows molding their own characters through film manipulation is what happens when the show is over and they have to go back to work? Do they just hope back into their normal life like nothing happened? I really doubt it. You not only have to worry about explaining yourself to your family, but also society. Every viewer of the show will know you as the person the producer made you to be. What if your next interview is with someone that watched the show? In the back of their head they will always have that opinion of you from the
