What you believe in and what you see is important and acceptable is an essential part of you. The way in which you respond to your own values and beliefs is very important. Having enhanced empathy can have a positive effect on your working practice. I experienced a situation at work where a staff member was struggling with childcare due to being a single parent. I could empathise with this because I had been in a similar situation myself. I changed the staff members shift pattern and this resolved the issue. Balancing work priorities with your own personal well-being is important. Being able to recognise specific triggers that cause you to have stress will help you to manage them. It is vital that you reflect on your workload and personal life. Either one of these could be causing you to feel stressed. Using activities such as yoga and meditation can help calm your mind, body and reduce stress and anxiety. In my workplace staff and team leaders have gotten together to do yoga sessions, this has helped reduce stress levels and team building.
Prioritising your workload effectively and using time management tools, also delegating work where possible. It is important that you don’t overload yourself. Setting clear boundaries and don’t take on too much, this needs to be communicated to co-workers.
