It was just a mother, father and children no extended family. Which is completely different from what we provided today, there are many families in today’s world that are a far cry from the nuclear families that were talked about in the chapter. I have to say after reading and looking more into nuclear families probably did exist just like they do today. Although I strongly believe that most families did still share the extended family living that we do today. So do I believe that the golden age of a nuclear family existed not exactly, I believe that it was something that did happen but I don’t necessary believe that it is everything that the world made it out to be. Each should be looked at carefully and taught to one’s children and other family members, for example ever child should learn that positive communication is key in a healthy relationship. This means that individual family strengths does have an important part of building a family. Community Strengths consist of like topics such as support of family members practicing types of religion. This is something that really needs to be practiced a lot more in today’s society because people don’t respected people religious preference. My family is a perfect example of this although are family is mostly catholic many of us don’t practice. Although many of us don’t attend church as much as my grandmother does, she has grown to understand that not everyone has the same preference when it comes to religion. As a family we have learned to over some these problems which fall into the other categories. Another example on how family needs to use all three categories is having a rich understanding of ones relationship with their culture and heritage is very important. Heritage and culture is something that a person needs to know about their selves.
