This essential requires that master’s prepared nurses learn about organizational and systems leadership as a part of promoting quality and safe patient care. It requires master’s prepared nurses to emphasize ethical and critical decision making skills, and working relationship and systems-perspective skills. NUR 565: Leadership and Advanced Nursing Roles taught that leadership is important to the promotion of high-quality and safe patient care. Leadership upholds ethical and critical decision making, effective working relationships, and a systems-perspective as well as advocacy (Clark, 2016). Through this project I was able to lead a movement to help address nursing-to-patient ratios and nurse staff breaks. I believe that God knows the “plans [He] has …show more content…
NUR 561: Applied Biostatistics and Epidemiology course gave me current examples of incidence, distribution, and potential control of diseases and other factors relating to health and safety improvement and safety (Carothers, 2016). I learned how to gather information, apply statistical tools to quantify results, and use this knowledge to improve standards of quality through evidence-based nursing practice. I learned experimental design, descriptive statistics, curve fitting, and distribution fitting such as Chi Squared Probability (Carothers, 2016). I looked at incidence of patient falls within my hospital, used scientific method, measured outcomes, and related them to overall quality of care and safety. Outcomes showed a statistical significance in hourly rounding on high risk
