There are many different definitions for leadership but only a unique individual can adapted that leadership role. As a leader you have to have the ability to lead, direct others, guide, and motivate; furthermore, to be a strong leader one must have certain leadership skills such as being good at dealing with conflict, make high-quality decisions, be an good communicator, good at conflict resolution, be results orientated, emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and traits that will empower others. Nurse leaders play a significant role in healthcare due to the rapid changes and the many challenges that they have to encounter. Often in the healthcare organization, some describe leadership role as a powerful relationship; however, part of the leadership process is the ability to use power, not control, to influence the direction of the group and the vision (Grossman & Valgia, 2008, p. 47). In social psychology, the theories place an emphasis on political, social and material inequality of a group in society. In this context, conflict occurs due to power differentials and class conflict.
