DRIs (Dietary Reference Intakes) provide information for vitamins, minerals, and other important nutrients that are essential to a person’s good health. DRIs also provide information on how much nutrients a person should consume on a daily basis pending they are following the American and Canadian diets. Much like RDA, DRIs also differs in male and female. It differs in age, gender, and reproductive status. |

Why should someone study this diagram? | The United States Department of Agriculture created a diagram called “MyPlate”. It was designed to replace the old food pyramid that everyone is used to seeing. The diagram simplifies what a well-balanced meal should look like every night. If people would actually follow this diagram it would differ and take away from the standard American diet that people follow today. The MyPlate diagram also detours people from eating big proportions and eat more healthy proportionate sizes. |
